EMERGING COOKING SOLUTIONS
The future of
sustainable cooking.
Cooking over open, smoky fires using wood and
charcoal still causes more deaths today than malaria,
tuberculosis, and AIDS combined, and has a climate
impact equal to that of the entire aviation industry.
Emerging Cooking Solutions, based in Lund with
subsidiaries in Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique,
manufactures and distributes efficient, healthy cook-
ing stoves and sustainable wood pellet fuel.
In exchange for purchasing our pellet fuel, users
can lease a stove that is connected to a digital
platform. This allows us to measure how the stoves
are used and rent them to those who need them the
most. With our stoves, users enjoy cleaner cooking,
halve their fuel costs, and save time.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DRIVING CHANGE
The final step of our distribution is managed by local le farmers to cultivate the trees. When the trees are
sales agents, many of whom are young people. Our
business model enables them to build their own dist-
ribution businesses. In some cases, they even create
a larger network with their own sellers.
We have also noticed that many of our stoves are
not just used to cook meals for the family, but also
for cooking and selling street food, such as samosas
and fritters. From our business concept and product,

entrepreneurship is born, offering more people the
opportunity to secure an income and create a future
for themselves.
THE YEAR IN BRIEF
This year, Zambia experienced an historically poor
rainy season, resulting in failed crops and reduced
electricity production from the Kariba Dam. This
has increased the demand for charcoal, but also
for our stoves.
In addition to delivering as many stoves as we
could, we have collaborated with the Zambian
government to develop a new carbon credit pro-
gramme under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement.
We expect to become one of the first projects in
the world to generate ITMOS carbon credits, which
could play a key role in the green transition.
We have also started a tree nursery and will plant
100,000 fast-growing, nitrogen-fixing trees before
the end of the year. The goal is to contract small-sca-
pruned, we get biomass that can be used for pellet
production. If the project succeeds, we plan to scale
up the plantations significantly. Our goal in Zambia
alone is to reach one million households. This would
equate to a reduction in greenhouse gases twice the
size of the total climate footprint of the cities
of Malmö and Lund combined.
