theses since 2009 researchers and 40 senior researchers or research coordinators.

Doctoral students are recruited through our institute-level FIMM-EMBL International PhD
Faculty of Medicine/ recruitment and training programme, as well as directly to research groups via the FIMM
Faculty of Biological and Doctoral Training Committee. Doctoral training is typically completed within University of
Environmental Sciences Helsinki programmes.

l Provide opportunities for the professional development of postdoctoral
and senior researchers

The FIMMPOD programme is designed to meet the diverse needs of postdoctoral and
senior researchers, preparing them for careers inside and outside of academia through
a holistic approach including mentoring, courses, workshops and career development
activities, as well as social and scientific networking. FIMMPOD directly supports research
groups through institute-level postdoctoral recruitment.

l Support innovative undergraduate education

Future scientists require strong and innovative education to be prepared for new insights
in molecular medicine, and FIMM provides expertise in planning and implementation of
curricula for multidisciplinary Master’s programmes and undergraduate teaching and
mentoring.
