Special Olympics Sweden
Special Olympics is a part of the Swedish Parasports
Federation that offers wide-ranging and recreational
athletic activities for persons with intellectual disa-
bilities. The aim is to give everyone the chance to live
an active life – regardless of ability. In Sweden there
are over 10,000 athletes in the Special Olympics.
The Special Olympics Games, Sweden’s largest
sports competition for people with intellectual
disabilities, were held in Malmö this past June. 1,000
athletes and coaches from across the country gath-
ered to compete in twelve sports. The games were
trials for the Special Olympics World Games, the
world’s largest sporting event for these athletes. The
Swedish team headed to the World Games in Berlin
in 2023 consists of 70 athletes and coaches. Thanks
to the support and commitment of Danir and Sigma
and their employees, the games were a memorable
event for both participants and visitors.

Expect a better
tomorrow - stiftelsen
This year’s Expect a Better Tomorrow initiative is
Heja Klubben! This initiative seeks to demonstrate the
invaluable benefits that Swedish association life provi-
des throughout our expansive country. The intention
is to spotlight the thousands of sports associations
and clubs whose members unite, stimulate, integrate
and develop individuals both as athletes and as people,
come rain or shine, in good times or bad. Heja Klubben!
also aims to pay tribute to all those who donate their
time and effort: enthusiasts with a passion for their
club who create rewarding leisure activities for child-
ren, young people and adults. Among other things,
the goal is to increase awareness of what clubs do and
how they contribute to their communities, encourage
more people to get involved in association life, and
help ensure that this unique popular movement can
continue to grow and benefit people all over Sweden.
