people’s participation in society.

The Timeout Foundation was set up in 2019 by
the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Jenny and
Antti Wihuri Foundation, the Finnish Innovation
Fund (Sitra) and the Swedish Cultural Foundation
in Finland. In 2021, the foundation's funding was
extended for another three-year period.

The Timeout method brings together people from
different backgrounds to carry out discussions as
equals, with plenty of time. The aim is especially
to include those who generally do not take part in
social debate. By now, Timeout has been used by
more than 350 organisations, with a total of 65,000
