4.3.7 EMPLOYEE COMMUTING
Employee commuting refers to staff travelling to and from the workplace by means of transport not owned by
the company. Activity data for employee commuting was collected by asking a sample of Danir Group em-
ployees to complete a survey on commuting habits. The sampling method used is based on the Average Data
Method of the GHGP guidelines (Greenhouse Gas Protocol, 2013).

The sample size was calculated based on the number of employees, an allowed margin of error of 5% and a
confidence level of 95%. A response rate of 70% was assumed to cover the response needs. The survey was
sent to 507 people to meet the need for 351 responses. A total of 212 people responded to the survey,
resulting in the margin of error being adjusted to 6.5%.

An average employee commuting emission value per person was calculated based on an average of commut-
ing distance per year, means of transport and the emissions generated by the respective means of transport.
The average emission was calculated to be 520 kg CO2-eq per person and year. This is a decrease compared to
the calculated emission factor for 2021. It is difficult to say why this is the case, but it could be due to changes
in travel habits in connection with the pandemic or that it was a different group of people answering the
survey. This means that in the future it will be important to follow up this emission factor and identify
differences between different companies within the Group.

The total employee commuting emissions for the Danir Group were calculated as approximately 2,281 tonnes
of CO2-eq, based on the 4,385 people included in the calculations in the GHG inventory. The breakdown by
fuel type is presented in Table 5.
