23 Danir GHG inventory report 2022 | CHAPTER 7
7. Emission reduction measures, targets and
future work
The results of the GHG inventory calculations provide information on which activities in the organisation give
rise to Danir’s significant climate impact. The mapping and follow-up from year to year helps make it possible
to identify strategic measures to reduce emissions. The implementation of strategic emission reduction meas-
ures can be prioritised as follows:
• The size of the activity’s emissions.
• Climate impact – i.e. the contribution of the measure to potential emission reductions.
• Feasibility – i.e. the complexity and implementability of the measure.
• Economic justification – factors such as payback time, investment cost and financial incentives through
reduced emissions should be taken into account here.
• Time perspective – can the measure be implemented immediately or in 5 to 10 years?
Because Danir is a decentralised group with a high degree of autonomy in each company, group-wide emis-
sion reduction measures can be challenging to implement and anchor in the constituent companies. However,
Danir is a large group with many employees and thus has great opportunities to achieve significant positive
impact through increased coordination and follow-up of the Group companies’ sustainability work. The two
largest, Sigma and Nexer, have now also adopted emission reduction targets in all three Scopes to be achieved
by 2025 and 2030. For Nexer, the aim is to reduce emissions in Scope 1 & 2 by 60% by 2025, and emissions in
Scope 3 by 30% by 2030. Sigma’s target is to reduce emissions in Scope 1 & 2 by 50% and in Scope 3 by 30%
by 2030.
Section 7.3 contains a summary of the proposed prioritised measures for the Danir Group, divided into four
categories.
7.1 Continuous sustainability work
Working continuously, transparently and ambitiously with environmental sustainability should be seen as a cor-
nerstone for the Danir Group to continue to be an attractive supplier and employer. It should be something that
permeates the entire organisation. Since the Danir Group consists of a large number of autonomous companies,
the Group should stimulate increased information sharing regarding environmental work. This could include, for
example, overarching targets for reducing emissions, ambitions and policies that promote environmentally sound
purchasing and transport. Section 7.2 Pioneering examples presents several ongoing initiatives and projects
within the Danir Group that contribute to a more sustainable tomorrow.
7.2 Pioneering examples
There are several companies within the Group that are pioneering examples from which other companies can
draw inspiration. As stated above, several companies within the Group have begun to set targets for reduced
emissions by 2025 and 2030. In addition, several companies within the Group map, document and report their
emissions to CDP and EcoVadis, among others.
